Your smile says many things about you. Many factors can affect your smile, age being just one. Adults are living longer and healthier lives while managing multiple chronic issues. Today’s aging boomers have a different attitude towards dentistry. They no longer consider tooth loss an inevitable consequence of aging.

An important factor in providing comprehensive care for the older patient includes an extensive interview, thorough medical and dental history, and a complete examination. Older patients may be taking multiple medications to treat chronic diseases.

Medical history will include a review of prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, supplements and herbal remedies. Patients sometimes don’t see these over-the-counter items as medicine and don’t think to tell the dental office about their use. Yet, these products can interact with other medications patients are taking or a medication the dentist may prescribe.

Older adults are interested in the latest advances in oral health and are ready to do what it takes to keep themselves healthy.   Oral health care is an important element in the formula for health, wellness, and the goal of staying healthier and younger looking.

More and more older adults are reaching adulthood with their natural teeth intact. There are many options available to improve the appearance of the natural teeth and to help you achieve the smile you have always wanted.

Our treatment plans reflect our interest in improving the overall health, increasing the self-esteem and adding to the self confidence of the older patient.

With improved techniques, concepts and home care products, oral health need not decline with aging or illness. Our office feels a responsibility to share our knowledge and expertise to improve the oral health of the older patient.

Dear Dr. Dilger:

It all started with my initial phone call to Dr. Dilger's office. I felt so comfortable from the start and after I came in for my first visit it's been all about what I want and what Dr. Dilger and his staff recommends for me. All around, it's been the best dental experience I've ever had.

Going to the dentist used to be a nightmare experience for me. That's all changed when I came to Dr. Dilger. Dr. Dilger's office staff are so warm and welcoming. Visiting them is like going home. Dr. Dilger's calm and caring manner erased all my dental anxiety and for the first time in my life I found myself relaxed in a dental chair. Dr. Dilger and his staff really took the time to get to know me and my concerns. They talked with me about my fears and helped me address my anxiety. Now I visit the dentist and I'm not afraid. I can not express the difference Dr. Dilger has made in my dental life! Thanks so much Dr. D.

I love my new smile.  It was so easy too.  Nearly pain free.  I am considering my lower teeth at a later date.
